The University of Washington has gone to the next level in technology; their goal is an attempt to make a new computer design that would be implantable in the brain, to restore brain function in the course of loss due to injury or disease!
The implantable computer that UW hopes to create with nanotechnology, can record nerve activity in one part of the brain and process it to stimulate cells in another region! Although it may sound simple; we can hardly imagine the massive undertaking by UW.
This immense project for a previously unthinkable computer design has been funded by the W.M. Keck Foundation; the vast sum of $1m with a three year grant has been provided by the same.
